The Zugliget Chairlift
8.800 Ft
The Zugliget Chairlift was handed over ceremonially 50 years ago, on August 19, 1970, and was open to the public from the day after, August 20.
The cableway leading up to the highest point of Budapest, the top of János Hill has been carrying passengers for half a decade now. The ropeway of 1040 meters length and bridging over 262 meters of height difference carries 101 open, two-passenger hanging chairs. The journey takes 15 minutes in both directions, while passengers can admire the spectacular panorama of Budapest.
In the course of the renovation in 1990-1991, the image of the Chairlift also received a little touch-up: this is when the pillars got a fresh, green coat of paint to help them fit into their natural environment more.
